This may sound childish, but I’ve taken up coloring as a hobby.
Okay, don’t judge me and don’t laugh. There are benefits to coloring!
One of the biggest ones, and the main reason why I’ve taken this on, is because it can be a major source of stress relief.
If any of you have taken a psychology course, it is often taught that as we grow older at times we will use childhood experiences or actions to repress ourselves out of stressful or emotional damaging situations. Coloring is something everyone did as a child and it always proved to be fun and relaxing. This is the main reason why I do it, especially as finals are going on and the real world is knocking on my door.
Another reason why I do it is to enhance my creativity. I’ve always had an artistic side and moderately high level of creativity. Sometimes we often can get too caught up in the hustle and bustle of today’s society that we don’t take the time to just enjoy the simple things such as art. So I allow time to color so that I can unleash my creative and artistic side if I did not get the chance do earlier that day.
So there you have it, why I color, and why there is no need to make jokes. Tumblr fam, go get ya a box of crayons and some coloring books from a cheap store and spend 30 minutes coloring. You’ll be glad you did.
